  • Jeremy Norton  - Lead Pastor / Elder

    Jeremy began serving in 2013 as Associate Pastor of Community Life & Equipping. In 2016, Jeremy transitioned to Lead Pastor. He's passionate about anything and everything, Leadership. He believes Outreach is a crucial component of the local church, seeing needs met with the goal of sharing the Gospel. In his off time, Jeremy enjoys writing, social media, fishing, hunting, playing soccer and spending time in the outdoors with his wife Nicole, and three boys. As Lead Pastor, Jeremy also serves on our team of Elders.

  • Mark Shore  - Elder / Board Chair

    Originally from the Vancouver area, Mark came to Whitehorse in the spring of 1979 and shortly thereafter started attending Whitehorse Baptist, now known as Mountainview Church. He met his wife Loretta at Youth Group and they married in the fall of 1981. They raised 3 children in Whitehorse and are pleased to be grandparents of 2 more. Mark has been involved in the church over the years, serving in various areas such as Youth, Elders and the Board. He is now retired and enjoys spending time with family and riding his motorcycle whenever possible. His desire is to promote unity by serving others and encouraging personal commitment to Jesus and His church.

  • Chris Swaffield - Elder / Board Director

    Chris came to Whitehorse in 2005 to marry his wife Sandi and then to become a member of Mountainview Church. He became an elder in 2006 and has served in that position since with a sabbatical year in 2020. His primary roles of service are as elder, board director, small group leader, and discipling men in their journey with God.

  • Phil Willoughby - Board Vice Chair

    Phil loves Jesus and people. One of his passions is helping people connect with God through music. Phil believes that music is one of the ways that can bring people closer to God. He has been playing and leading worship for nearly 20 years. In 2020, after serving as Worship Director, Phil transitioned to serve in Board leadership as our Vice Chair.

  • Katharina McArthur - Board Secretary

    Katharina was born and raised in Germany but has lived in the Yukon since 2004. She loves to see this church grow and is excited to see people come to Jesus. She served on the music team in recent years. She and her husband and three kids enjoy camping, hiking and cooking together, or planning their next Iceland adventure. 

  • Sarah Geary - Board Treasurer

    Sarah and her family moved to the Yukon in September 2019 and have attended Mountainview Church since then. It didn’t take long for both to feel like home, and she is excited to be both a member of the church and serving on the board as Treasurer. Sarah has a BA in Business & Accounting from Briercrest College and has completed numerous courses through CPA Canada. She currently owns a business in Whitehorse and loves building relationships with people in the community. Sarah enjoys family life with her husband and two kids. She loves the outdoors and appreciates every season in the north.

  • Chanhoi Kim - Board Director

    Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Chan came to Whitehorse in 2016 and started attending Mountainview church ever since. He was born and raised in a Christian household and developed his faith during his university days. Chan has been serving on the music team and is currently participating in the elder mentorship program at Mountainview Church. He and his wife Megan enjoy living in Whitehorse now and are trying to be more outdoorsy.

  • Cornelia Brenner - Office Manager / Pastoral Assistant / Knowledge Director

    Cornelia has been attending Mountainview since 2001. She loves serving in her role as Office Manager / Pastoral Assistant. Cornelia has served in various ministries over the years and is currently leading the Knowledge Ministry. In her free time, you will find Cornelia outdoors, enjoying canoeing, camping, hiking or spending time at their cabin with her husband and two sons.

  • Aaron Mones - First Impressions, Hospitality, Men's Director

    Aaron is a born and raised Yukoner who recently ventured to Alberta for a few years, but felt a calling to come back to Whitehorse. He gave his life to Jesus in 2020 and since then has become a member of Mountainview Church. He very much enjoys getting involved in multiple ways and recently joined our staff team, overseeing facility maintenance. In his downtime Aaron enjoys music, reading, history, and singing as long there aren’t too many people listening.

  • Megan Klassen - Children's Director

    Originally from Washington State, Megan met her college sweetheart and now husband, Derek, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Losing in a coin toss, Megan immigrated to Canada and has lived in Whitehorse since May 2012. Megan now joins us as the Director of Children’s Ministry. She is excited as she feels she has been called to try and impress the love of Jesus on children. Derek and Megan have 3 young boys. She loves riding horses, fishing, hunting, and any outdoor adventure with her family that comes her way.  

  • Karen Pregizer - Missions Director

    Karen and her husband Ken, are retired missionaries with SEND International after 35 years of service in Alaska and Canada. We were involved in various ministries that include: Alaska Bible College, the Summer Missionary Program, and church planting. Ten years ago we moved to Whitehorse to oversee SENDS's Canadian church planting effort and we have been involved in various ministries with Mountainview Church, such as: AWANA, teaching Sunday School, and working several years with the camp ministry, as we'll as caring for our church's missionaries.

  • Jeesu Sohn - Music Director

    Jeesu has been at Mountainview Church since 2019. She loves mountains and lakes and all the colours of nature that is easily fund in the Yukon. She is excited to share the goodness of God through music and fellowship.

  • Elijah Istchenko - Prayer Director

    Elijah Istchenko came to know Jesus in 2018 after attending services at Mountainview Church. He's a thirty year old husband and very father of a little girl. Having come from a non-Christian background and a family without Christian roots, he is moved by the deep need unsaved people have to hear the name of Jesus in a personal way, rather than through media and entertainment outlets. He is currently being mentored by the formally recognized Elders at Mountainview and aspires to enter leadership someday. 

  • Bryan Walter - Technology Director

    Bryan became Christian in 2009 after being invited out to church by a friend from school and realized his need for Jesus. He moved from the lower mainland, BC to Yellowknife for an aircraft maintenance position, where he remained for 5 years. It was here that he became interested in sound, mixing Sunday morning worship on a small analogue soundboard at his local church. Bryan is now settled in Whitehorse with his wife Esther and son Silas. After a big learning curve in the move to launch church online, his skill-set has expanded and he currently leads the Tech Ministry here at Mountainview.

  • Emma McFarland - Tech Ministry Intern

    Emma was born and raised in the Yukon and has been a part of the Mountainview church community since she was born. Emma first discovered Christ while at a camp in Dawson City where she ultimately chose to accept Christ. During the outbreak of COVID, she saw an opportunity at Mountainview to help out, which led to her becoming our Tech Intern. Emma enjoys video games, playing basketball and spending time with friends and family.
