Esther (and her husband, Bob) travelled to the Yukon in 1968 to experience the land of the midnight sun. On their first Sunday in Whitehorse, they visited the blue-roofed Whitehorse Baptist-Church (now known as Mountainview Church). It felt like home—friendly and welcoming, and gospel-focused. Over the years, Esther has served in many in ministry areas including  Marsh Lake Bible Camp, Children’s and Women’s ministries, Care & Hospitality, Library and Missions, and several terms on the Board. Leisure time interests include family time, reading a good book, writing short stories, scrap-booking, and sunny days at the cabin on Marsh Lake.

  • Stirling Young (Board Director)

My wife Thelma and I arrived in Whitehorse in January of 1971 with our 4 children and plans for a 3 year stay. God changed that and we are still enjoying life here and fitting in wherever we can help. Three of the kids, Cheryl, Collin, and Chris have returned to jobs here after being "outside" for several years and two of our eight grandchildren also live here. Eldest son Cameron lives in the lower mainland. God has been SO good to us and we enjoy Mountainview Church very much!
